I'm deeply disturbed by the recent incident of mob justice that has resulted in the loss of a precious life. As a nation, we pride ourselves on being "One Zambia, One Nation, One People," but actions like these contradict our values and undermine our progress.
We must ask ourselves: what kind of society are we creating when we take the law into our own hands? The victim's family, friends, and community are left to deal with the trauma and pain of their loss. The child who witnessed this horrific act will carry the scars for a lifetime. How can we expect our youngsters to grow into responsible citizens when we're showing them that violence is an acceptable solution?
We need to teach our children that every life is valuable, and that there's no justification for taking it away. Mob justice doesn't investigate, it only destroys. It kills, it maims, and it tears communities apart. We must stand together and say no to this kind of violence.
As citizens, let's promote peace and unity. Let's allow the authorities to do their job and bring perpetrators to justice. The Zambia Police Headquarters is trained to handle these situations, and we must trust their process.
To the perpetrators, I say: think about the impact of your actions. Think about the family that's grieving today because of your violence. Think about the kind of society you're creating.
To our leaders, I urge: take a strong stance against mob justice. Ensure that those responsible face the full force of the law. Let's make an example of this case and show that we won't tolerate such brutality.
To the nation, let's come together and promote a culture of peace, respect, and empathy. We are human beings, not animals. We have values, morals, and laws that guide us. Let's uphold them.
Let's teach our children that there's strength in compassion, kindness, and justice. As it is said, "Love your neighbor as you love yourself." We must be each other's keepers.
Say no to mob justice. Say yes to peace and unity. Let's build a Zambia where every life is valued and respected. πΏπ²π
