Power Carving an Abstract Wooden Sculpture from Kiaat - 'Eye of the Flame'
The wood used is from the Kiaat Tree (Pterocarpus angolensis) also known as the South African Blood Tree due to it's crimson red sap after cutting.
The feel for this piece was to bring depth and movement together and in what better way than with wood and fire.
The center of the sculpture has been hollowed through as the eye piece and charred adding contrast.
The finish is a mineral oil and wax combo.
Enjoy!
