Buying lumber for a project that'll sit outside all year is a different call than picking boards for something indoors. Moisture, sun, and ground contact all change what you should be reaching for, and the wrong choice now means redoing the work in a couple years.

There's a reason lap siding has been the go-to on barns, sheds, and homes for generations. The overlapping profile sheds water the way it's supposed to, and the exposed grain gives a building real texture instead of a flat, painted-on look.
