Not your average vacation rental.
This property is being designed with a very specific goal, to make people remember it. Our clients originally hired us to design their primary residence next-door, and while working on that project, we started imagining what a truly memorable vacation home could look like for this property.
Located in Crescent city on Crescent Lake, a destination known for bass fishing, the goal was to create a home that could accommodate families and larger groups while giving guests something they donât see everywhere else.
So we went big, bold, funky and fun.
5000 ft.²
Two stories
Four bedrooms, Four baths Huge open concept living
Game room
Pool
Room for gathering, relaxing, and making a little noise
For the design, I teamed up with Sirilla Design to imagine a fresh take on mid-century modern, with updated and unexpected details, personality, and a little bit of attitude.
Because when youâre designing a vacation rental, youâre not just designing a house, youâre designing the experience people remember from the trip.
This one is still very much a work in progress, but I think itâs going to be one heck of a destination when itâs finished.

BUILDING A CUSTOM HOME IS EXCITING
Itâs also one of the biggest investments youâll ever make. After nearly 30 years working in the design industry, Iâve noticed something, the mistakes that cost homeowners the most rarely happen after construction begins. They happen months earlier, not because people make bad decisions, but because they simply donât know what they donât know.
Iâve seen family rooms too small for the way a family actually gathers.
Beautiful kitchens that couldnât accommodate the appliances the homeowner wanted.
Dining rooms that couldnât fit the table theyâd always dreamed of hosting Thanksgiving around.
These arenât decorating problems, theyâre planning problems. The best custom homes donât begin with selecting finishes, they begin by understanding how you want to live. Thatâs why I believe interior design should start long before paint colors, furniture, or tile selections start.
It begins with asking better questions such as how does your family gather? How do you entertain? What do you want your home to feel like when you walk through the door? Those answers shape everything that follows.
I recently shared the 10 most common mistakes. I see homeowners make before building a custom home, and I hope it helps anyone beginning this exciting journey. Youâll find the full article through the link in my bio.

The workings of a new spec home in Orlando.
The huge kitchen with 2 islands and panel ready appliances.
A primary bath with depth and texture.
Secondary baths with just enough contrast to add interest.
The powder bath with its own attitude.
And a pool bath thatâs âgaspâ, not blue. đ˛
I work on the exterior too.
Look at all these lighting fixtures.
