Soapstone is such a cool, alternative countertop choice. It has a smooth, matte finish that feels almost soft to the touch but is still highly heat resistant and non-porous.

Soapstone can patina over time which means that the slab becomes a part of your story like a nice leather bag that chronicles your adventures. However, a little mineral oil or soapstone wax will return your countertops to like new if you want to start a new story.
