Meet Julia Archer of Archer Ceramics, one of the artists featured at O’Brien Harris during this year’s RNDD Gallery Walk.

Working from her Oak Park studio, Julia draws inspiration from architectural forms and surface textures to create timeless, functional stoneware. Each piece is thrown by hand and thoughtfully glazed, with subtle marks and variations left visible as part of the making process.

Michael Coates, artist and owner of Wilderhouse, looks to the natural world for inspiration.

Raised in Northern California, Michael draws from the mountains, forests, and coastal landscapes of his youth. Sandy, earth-toned clays and neutral glazes evoke those environments, while collected shells, driftwood, and stones inform his process and give his work a tangible connection to the landscapes that inspire it.

Chicago native Joanne Trestrail has worked in clay since the late 1990s, beginning with figure sculpture before turning her focus to ceramics.

A member of The Pottery Studio on Chicago’s North Side, Joanne specializes in hand-building with coiled clay, creating distinctive surface textures as each coil is joined. Her high-fired pieces are largely left unglazed, allowing the material, form, and intricate texture of the clay to take center stage.
