Details of the Ruché.

What gives Ruché its distinctive look? A unique boutis-inspired quilting, created with a cross-hatching of interrupted seams. The stitching alternately flattens and releases the fabric, allowing it to gently curl.

Its name, Ruché, refers to the gathered or pleated fabric traditionally used as clothing decoration.

A harmonious union of rigorous straight lines and soft, welcoming curves.

Inga Sempé • design industriel . objets had already designed one sofa for Ligne Roset. Ruché was her answer to designing a second: don’t repeat yourself.

Before the quilting, before the frame: the sketch.

Fifty years and over a million pieces later, the Togo it’s still one of the most copied silhouettes in furniture design.

Under summer light, those folds do what they’ve always done: catch shadow, hold warmth, blend perfectly with the subjects around them.
