We love projects that are a true collaboration with the interior designer and client.

This Auckland coastal retreat just featured in Denizen Modern Living was one of those projects. Engaged early, we worked with Bespoke Interior Design and their client for nearly 18 months refining and creating highly personalised furniture. The furniture speaks to the client's lifestyle and their architecture.

For the main entrance, we created this bespoke console with walnut waterfall ends linking to this material used throughout the home. The walnut ends are connected by coloured glass and topped with Emporador Dark marble that we also used on various tables.

We wrapped the large mirror above the console in walnut to tie the setting together. We created the over-scaled brass vase to complete the setting.

These custom pieces provide the ideal teaser for what lies beyond the entrance, supporting the architecture without dominating the space.

We customised this modular design as the centrepiece for the hub of this striking waterfront home. The layout was designed to anchor this generous family space accentuating the dual purpose of the room with an inward focused aspect facing the fireplace back-to-back with the other focused on the commanding views of Rangitoto and the Hauraki Gulf.⁠

Colour, texture and interest are created through carefully curated materials.

This setting by blends contrasting timbers, fabrics, stone, glass and steel to create depth without over dressing the decor.

The custom Greenwich coffee table in walnut is paired with patterned Bello ottomans. These are placed in front of the Nazare sofa with an upholstered leather frame and contrasting fabric cushioning. A Leo side table with dark mirror tabletop cantilevers over the sofa.

This room is divided into two seating areas by a custom cabinet clad in walnut but with a black internal shelf space.

The brief was to create a tranquil retreat away from the bustling main living area below - a haven to relax and enjoy the stunning ocean views that lie beyond.

A well-proportioned coffee table anchors a seating area and supports easy movement around it.

The Salta coffee table is round in shape to contrast with the square layout of this setting. The honed marble tabletop is clashed with steel giving the table a substantial form while lightening the overall design.

The symmetrical base allows the Salta coffee table to be paired with smaller tables or ottomans. This arrangement creates an appealing eclipsed grouping with soft edges inviting better flow through the room.

Sometimes, the client's desires cannot be met with readily available solutions. This scenario presents an exciting opportunity for us to innovate and craft something entirely unique for them.

In a recent collaboration with Bespoke Interior Design, we received a detailed brief for designing four distinct bedrooms. Each room called for custom-made wall panels, beds, and bedside tables.

The wall panels were personalised for each bedroom, integrating lighting and electrical components with leather and fabric selected to suit the character of each space.

The bed bases were crafted expressly for the overall design concept, drawing on our Bali bed design principles.

Additionally, the bedside tables were custom-built to harmonize with the wood-panelled walls, featuring inlaid travertine tabletops connecting with this material in other areas of the home.

The outcome was truly unique delivering on the brief perfectly.

The tailored seating floats on a fully upholstered platform and is infused with feather duvets through the back and carefully curated tiers of foam in the seats.

Who doesn't like Wanaka? We've been lucky enough to be involved in numerous projects in Central Otago over many years.

So when the Architecture + Design Library in Wanaka told us that they were expanding, we leapt at the chance to join their brand experience centre.

The Architecture + Design Library offers local and out-of-town industry professionals access to its architectural sample library, client meeting rooms, private offices and shared services support.

Now you can also try out Designers' Collection furniture while you're there!

When creating new designs, we give consideration to their versatility and multifunctionality.

We place considerable importance on how they will be placed in a home, their daily usage and how they will add layers of interest and appeal in a setting.

Our new Titoki coffee table is designed to be applied as a stand-alone piece or be paired with ottomans. The table is oblong is shape with soft radiused corners. The architectural profile of the steel base is offset to allow ottomans like our Taka stool to be placed either side.

Grouping these designs allows you to mix materials and finishes to pull the setting together. As we custom-make the tables and ottomans, you can select your own materials and finishes to tailor these pieces for your project.

It’s such a buzz when you’re putting the finishing touches on a client’s new home!

Last week, we completed this Wanaka project in collaboration with Bespoke Interior Design. Eighteen months in the making, it was very gratifying to see it all come together.
