Most people shopping for a chair compare lumbar ratings, tilt mechanisms, mesh versus foam. None of it answers the real question.

The muscles holding you upright are working even when you're not moving. That effort adds up over hours.

Posture naturally settles the longer you sit. That's why the last two hours of the day ask more of your body than the first.

A shaped backrest transfers more of that load through the chair, rather than leaving your lower back to carry it alone.

Product Spotlight: Stylex NYC

NYC is a single modular understructure built to carry five upholstery styles: Wrap-Over, Standard, Relaxed, and Loose in two back-cushion depths. Same frame, same seat and bench components, spec'd differently depending on the room.

Standard: classic and clean, with rectangular lines suited to corporate and institutional interiors.

Wrap-Over: formal and tailored, with its back cushion overlaying the plinth for an executive feel.

Relaxed: less structured than Wrap-Over or Standard, but still a rich, considered presence in a room.

Loose: goes furthest from formal, with cushions available from Stylex or sourced elsewhere for a fully custom look.

Power is built in where it's needed, with each undermount unit carying a USB-A port, a USB-C port, and a standard outlet, daisy-chainable up to eight in a row.

The system scales from a single club chair to full sofas, benches and corner configurations, so a lobby, a breakout space and a formal meeting area can all draw from the same family without looking matched-in-a-showroom identical.

HÅG's story starts in 1943, in a small Oslo workshop building chairs for schools and kitchens.

By the late 1960s the business had nearly collapsed. A doctor's discovery about his own back pain changed the direction entirely, and set HÅG on the idea that sitting still was never the healthy option.

That idea still shapes every chair the brand makes today.

With the Bioregion Institute, we set out to find waste streams - mussel shells, kelp, oat husks, h**p - that could realistically supply full-scale industrial production, time and time again.
