Gianfranco Frattini for Cassina
Italy, circa 1965
A sculptural bentwood coffee table with three turned legs and a floating cut-glass top — an elegant example of Frattini’s ability to merge architectural precision with warmth and fluidity.
Born in Padua and trained at the Politecnico di Milano, Frattini worked in the studio of Gio Ponti before opening his own practice in the 1950s. Like many of the great figures of postwar Italian design, he approached furniture as an extension of architecture: attentive, measured, and deeply connected to everyday life.
“L’attenzione determina gesti d’amore.”
Attention determines gestures of love.
That philosophy runs quietly through Frattini’s work — objects designed not only to function beautifully, but to live beautifully with others.
