Inspired by the grandeur of traditional Indian homes, this 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗿-𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝗱 by MN DESIGN CO. by Garima Agarwal is a modern ode to an age of timeless craftsmanship.

In old Indian homes, these high, draped beds were as purposeful as they were grand—elevated for comfort, surrounded by curtains for 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗰𝘆, and designed to create a cool, sheltered sanctuary.

Reimagined in 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝘄𝗼𝗼𝗱, with a richly upholstered 𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗸 high back and delicate blush-pink linen drapes, this piece brings together heritage, romance and quiet indulgence.

At MN DESIGN CO., we believe the most beautiful furniture doesn’t simply decorate a space.
It carries a story.
It carries a memory.

Inspired by Kishkindha, the legendary kingdom from the Ramayana — a land of forests, mountains and a community that lived in harmony, joy and bliss.
Our Kishkindha Collection draws from that spirit of abundance, beauty and togetherness, translated into the language of exquisite craftsmanship.
Crafted in wood and embellished with a breathtaking confluence of semi-precious stones — mother-of-pearl, malachite, lapis lazuli and amethyst — each piece is a celebration of colour, texture and the extraordinary skill of our artisans.

Every stone has been meticulously embedded by hand. Our karigars worked relentlessly, refining every detail and chasing the exact finish we had envisioned.
And then came that unforgettable moment…
When the piece finally emerged from its final polish, all we could say was:
WOW.

That moment is what makes handcrafted design so special. Behind every finished piece are hours of patience, precision and countless hands that bring an idea to life.

Now on display at our Flagship Store — LePress Studio, Hazratganj, Lucknow, housed in a historic 1857-era building.

" I had the privilege of meeting the Hon’ble Governor of Assam, Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya Ji, who graciously gifted me a beautifully handcrafted wooden mandir of Maa Kamakhya Devi. What made the gesture even more meaningful was that he recognised, almost instinctively, my deep appreciation for anything that carries the soul of a craftsman — something handmade, rooted in tradition, and brought to life in wood.
During our conversation, he fondly addressed me as “Devi” and spoke of the special place women hold in Assamese culture — women as the bearers, creators and nurturers of life, and as those with a discerning and watchful eye for what is right.
His words felt deeply personal.
Perhaps because our worlds met at the very place I feel most connected to — art, craftsmanship, heritage and the people whose hands keep these traditions alive.
He blessed me for a successful future and said that the work I am doing to preserve, promote and create opportunities for India’s artisans will, in time, return to me in the form of blessings from the Almighty.
I left with much more than a beautiful piece of craftsmanship.
I carried with me his blessings, his faith in my journey, and a renewed belief that when our work is rooted in purpose — in preserving our karigars, their skills and the incredible heritage they carry — it becomes much more than a business.
It becomes a legacy.

We spoke about the extraordinary craftsmanship of our karigars in Uttar Pradesh and their remarkable ability to create timeless, intricately handcrafted furniture. With the right branding and global promotion, this heritage craft has the potential to—and indeed already does—command a world-class market.
I shared my concern that fewer young people are learning these traditional skills, which could gradually dilute this rich legacy. However, our Honourable Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath Ji, expressed great confidence that if these crafts are branded and showcased effectively on the global stage, the younger generation will naturally be inspired to embrace and preserve this invaluable heritage.

Not just through the places I visited, but through the details that stayed with me. The textures, the light, the stillness, and the emotion a space quietly creates.

My friends plan a coffee at a place in St.Moritz and I only fill my camera with pictures of the interiors, get lost in the thought of the designer behind it and forget to click “us” !!!

I truly believe that best inspiration often comes from observing and every space, every detail, every experience adds a new way of seeing design.

From bold art and heritage architecture to quiet corners and playful forms, this journey was a reminder that meaningful spaces are never just seen…
