Where Time Stays
Mungkin beberapa hal
memang tidak diciptakan untuk terburu-buru.
Ia hanya menunggu.
Menunggu pagi menemukan cahayanya.
Menunggu sore menurunkan suaranya.
Menunggu seseorang datang
dan membuat sebuah tempat terasa hidup.
Waktu terus berjalan.
Melainkan perasaan
yang membuat kita tidak ingin segera pergi.
Sesuatu yang telah melewati banyak musim,
namun masih tahu bagaimana caranya
membuat hari ini terasa berbeda.
Karena pada akhirnya,
yang bertahan bukan selalu sesuatu yang paling kuat.
Kadang,
yang bertahan adalah sesuatu
yang berhasil menjadi bagian dari kehidupan.

FOUR DIFFERENT EXPRESSIONS. ONE FEELING. L.O.V.E.
It all began with a dream.
And perhaps with a little madness from a Rattanman who cannot stop thinking about shapes, materials and new possibilities.
I have always believed that passion has no off switch.
I spend my days surrounded by furniture.
Rattan. Weaving. Beads. Curves and lines.
Textures and little details that to some are just parts of furniture, but to me, they are pieces of a puzzle.
This time, inspiration came from the lamps I created for my partner, Ro Shambeaux.
What if I brought this element into furniture?
What if I combined that shape with another material?
What if something I created before could be given an entirely new life?
From looking, remembering, experimenting, mixing and matching, four new room dividers slowly began to take shape for CantikRattan.
Four designs.
Four characters.
Four different expressions.
Yet they all carry the same DNA. LOVE.
One feels more classic and rich.
Another is softer and more natural.
One is playful and ornamental.
And another feels fresh and contemporary.
Different faces, but born from the same hands, the same mind, and the same feeling.
Every time a new piece is finished, it feels like having my first baby.
There is happiness. There is pride. There is excitement.
The most beautiful part is when someone else falls in love with it too.
When they say, “I love it.”
Yes. We did it again.
Four different expressions.
One feeling.
One passion.
One love.
Welcome to the world, my four little ones. ❤️

🌿 SAVANNAH BREAKFAST SET
Another story from rattan…
Sometimes it starts from something we have seen, experienced, made before… lalu bertemu dengan kebutuhan dan selera yang berbeda.
Konsepnya sederhana: two chairs facing each other, one table in between, dan kedua kursinya bisa masuk ke sisi meja sehingga semuanya dapat dipacking menjadi 3 pieces in 1 set.
Simple. Practical. Space efficient.
But after more than 30 years working with rattan, saya belajar bahwa a good design is never really finished.
Zaman berubah. Market berubah. Selera orang berubah.
This time, my buyer from New Jersey, WickerWarehouse, likes the original concept, but wanted something that feels more natural and comfortable for the US market.
So instead of simply repeating the old design,
we decided to rethink the proportion.
Seat height, tabletop, armrest, backrest… semuanya saya coba sesuaikan kembali, tanpa kehilangan karakter compact Breakfast Set itu sendiri.
And this is where Savannah Breakfast Set begins.
Foto ini masih tahap perangkaan.
Belum finished. Belum upholstery. Belum final.
But honestly, this is one of my favourite stages.
Because the furniture is still talking to me.
Saya masih bisa melihat lengkungan rotannya, merasakan proporsinya, lalu bertanya lagi:
Is this comfortable enough?
Is this proportion right?
Can I make it better?
Most of what I know came from years of making, bending, breaking, correcting, listening to buyers, listening to the material… and doing it all over again.
And after all these years, I still feel like I am learning.
From an old UK-inspired idea,
reinterpreted for a new market,
a different taste,
and hopefully… a more comfortable way to sit.
Still in the making.
Still learning.
Still loving rattan. 🌿

There is a form that never ages.
It simply changes the way it endures.
Because time doesn’t always ask us to change.
Sometimes, it simply asks us to become stronger.
Once upon a time, it grew from nature’s embrace.
It graced porches and cozy rooms, becoming part of stories passed down from one generation to the next.
Decades have passed.
Hundreds of homes have welcomed it.
Yet its silhouette has never lost its meaning.
Today, we do not alter its essence.
We simply give it a reason to endure longer.
So that it no longer fears the seasons as they come and go.
So that it continues to greet the morning, await the sunset, and live beneath the same sky.
Because heritage isn’t about freezing the past in time.
Heritage is about finding ways to keep its beauty alive in the future.

There is history living between its decoration and weave
There is love behind every single rattan pole, bent by hand, with heart.
We call her Taylor Chair.
She was born in the 1950s, from a family of classic European rattan designs along the coast of Italy.
Decades later, destiny carried her across the ocean, to a small factory in Cirebon.
It was a time before Wi-Fi, before email, before marketplace.
Trade moved from one fair to another, from one handshake to the next.
The most valuable currency then was a good name.
Reputation was built when others would willingly speak your name when you were not in the room.
One afternoon, a car stopped in front of our factory gate. An Italian man stepped out, calm, smiling. “Andrea Bizzotto,” he introduced himself.
When we asked how he found us, he said,
“Someone told me a story.
He said, there is a company led by a young man full of energy.
If you want to make rattan furniture with heart, go there.”
That day Andrea brought no contract.
He only watched how we worked. Before he left, he said,
“I will send you one chair from Italy.
Please make it for me.”
A few weeks later, the sample arrived.
The Taylor Chair.
A chair of pure rattan. No pretense.
It does not just hold the body. It embraces it.
A few days later, our fax machine began to sing. Page after page came out. And everyone fell silent.
16,000 pieces.
Equivalent to 30 x 40HQ containers.
We once lived in an era when trust traveled faster than the internet. And it could create numbers like that.
I will not just make furniture ads.
I will tell the story behind every piece we have ever made.

Nias
The Gentleman Who Never Asked for Attention.
Some chairs become famous.
Others become unforgettable.
Nias was never designed to impress.
It was designed to belong.
Its graceful curves…
its finely woven back…
its quiet proportions…
Everything about it speaks softly.
Perhaps that is why people trusted it for so many years.
Thousands were handcrafted in our workshop.
Ten thousand…
Maybe twenty thousand.
Truthfully…
We stopped counting a long time ago.
From our small corner of Cirebon,
Toba quietly found its way into homes across Europe.
Dining rooms.
Sunrooms.
Family gatherings.
Lazy Sunday mornings.
Birthday celebrations.
Conversations that lasted far longer than the coffee in the cup.
The people who sat on these chairs may never know who built them.
But every curve was bent by patient hands.
Every weave carried the rhythm of craftsmen who believed that beauty should never be rushed.
Because long before furniture became content…
It was already becoming part of someone’s life.
Toba isn’t our most famous chair.
It is one of the reasons our story still exists.

“Rest a spell. Let us tell you how this chair came to be.”
Some chairs become furniture.
Some become memories.
This chair belongs to the second kind.
Long before rattan became fashionable on social media…
before cafés filled with tropical interiors…
before designers rediscovered natural materials…
This chair was already sitting quietly on terraces across Europe.
Simple.
Honest.
Timeless.
At Cantik Rattan, we watched this humble chair travel farther than many people ever will.
There was a time when it left our workshop in waves.
Not dozens.
Not hundreds.
But containers after containers…
Until one remarkable month, nearly 28 shipping containers carried nothing but this single design to homes thousands of miles away.
We never called it a bestseller.
Around here, it simply became part of the family.
Because trends come and go.
But some chairs never stop welcoming people home.
Cantik Rattan Industry.
Still weaving tomorrow, one chair at a time.
Part time? Rockstar.
Full time? Rattanman.

Some days, the world is too loud.
Notifications. Deadlines. Noise.
And all you really need
is a quiet corner,
soft light on a cream wall,
warm wood beneath your feet,
and a place to finally exhale.
This is LUNA.
Woven in Gray, standing on honest aluminium legs -
not shouting for attention, but calmly owning the room.
For terraces, cafes, and souls that appreciate stillness.
