We can carry out bacteriology testing & PCR’s via a reliable laboratory in the U.K, you will receive a full veterinary report signed off by an avian qualified vet.
We would like to talk to you prior to ordering these tests, to ensure that the correct tests are ordered to taylor the needs of your birds. 🦠🔬🐦

Even though treatment for worms had been given, but not repeated.

Symptoms etc -
- 2 birds
- One this years baby, & one a two year old
- Eating & drinking well but going light.

So we always start at the ‘bottom of the ladder’, when we get these clinical signs, before we ask clients to spend more by carrying out more in-depth testing (bacteriology or PCR’s).

A microscopy test detected
- High Roundworm
- High Hairworm
- High Coccidiosis

Treatment will begin and we are confident that we will see an improvement.

Remembering to carry out a second treatment of worming is essential, when using Moxidectin, treat again 21 days later, to break the worm cycle.

🔬🐦 We received a PCR result from our laboratory yesterday, our client has informed us of typical clinical signs of respiratory problems, so we carried out PCR’s for Chlamydia & Mycoplasma, luckily it was Mycoplasma not Chlamydia (this is easier to deal with).
The ‘CQ value’, for Mycoplasma came out at 23.64, this indicates an active infection.
Our Vet has advised that our client treats with an antibiotic, Tylan.

🐦🔬This week we have found that we are getting a lot of higher counts of Coccidiosis, we think this is down to the humidity & heat, keep up with your tests so we can check the counts.
These counts will effect your birds whilst racing 🔬🐦

One of the biggest problems we have is when fanciers bring new birds in, this can be a time when problems begin.

Firstly we would like to say, it doesn’t mean the ‘seller’, had any idea there was a problem, no clinical signs, so we always say ‘no blame’.

We like to discuss the clinical signs, then we taylor the testing to the fanciers needs.
This does not always involve a Bacteriology test or a PCR test that are more costly, it may just require the first General Health Check.
