Nocturne - painted wood, sleigh-style headboard and footend, tapered legs - in three rooms that couldn't agree on anything except the bed.
Deep teal in a fresh white room with botanical prints and floral curtains that match the panelling perfectly. Slate blue against warm taupe walls where the straw hats are on the gallery wall and nobody is taking them down. Terracotta red in a floral wallpaper room with a striped wool throw, a morning cup of tea and a balcony just outside.

Hamilton Chromo Low Footend - ornate iron, silver ball finials, rosette castings - in three rooms that couldn't agree on anything except the bed.
Black iron in a warm cream cottage with a basket of lavender at the foot and gardening gloves still on the nightstand. Navy in a London brick room where the portraits are gilt-framed and the paintbrushes are on the dressing table. Olive green against a ditsy sprig wallpaper with floral linen, a striped armchair and paint tubes on the floor.

Edwardian - ornate cast iron, fleur-de-lis finials, decorative headboard rail - in a sage green room where the family photographs, the watercolour landscapes and the tennis racket on the nightstand tell you everything about who lives here.

Burley Slim - upholstered in botanical floral, arched headboard, low footend - in three rooms that share the same Persian rug, the same collected gallery wall and the same geometric quilt. Nothing else agreed.
Bird and blossom fabric against a portrait-lined wall. A pink carnation print with the cricket bat on the windowsill. A soft jacobean floral with the pine trunk at the foot and a watercolour above the bed.

Hamilton - cream iron, brass ball finials, brass top rail - in a dark charcoal room where the gallery wall of botanicals, portraits and landscapes has been growing one frame at a time for years.
Grid check linen, a terracotta floral duvet, ticking stripe pillows in steel blue. A dressing table with paintbrushes and lavender, a bookcase full in the corner, a navy velvet rug underfoot that anchors the whole room.
Dark walls. Warm brass. The combination that always gets it right.

Ballina - ornate scrollwork iron in dusty terracotta, arched castings, teardrop headboard detail - in a Georgian room where the coral panelling, the duck egg Morris wallpaper and the watercolour paints on the desk all suggest someone lives here very well indeed.
Toile de jouy linen, a floral bolster in teal and peach, a paisley runner in burnt orange. A quilted white bedspread, a watercolour armchair in the corner, a sage green jute rug underfoot.
The kind of room that makes you want to paint it before you tidy it.

Austin - four-poster in deep plum, upholstered in multi-stripe ticking, pencil finials, matching bench - in an attic room where the books are shelved floor to ceiling on both sides and the skylight does exactly what it should.
Houndstooth cushions, a grey throw, sporting prints lit by a picture light above the bed. A sofa in the corner with a coral cushion because the room had space for one more good decision.
The kind of bedroom that works as hard as it looks.

Olivia — matte black iron, curved rail, ball finials — in a beamed cottage room where the fern print linen, the ikat cushions and the grey throw never moved. Only the walls changed.
