Let’s Get this Lounger Heatwave Ready!

My lovely neighbour gave me this lounger to update a few years ago.

I refinished it but after a couple of years in the garden, it was in need of another refresh

I cleaned it all back before priming it with a universal primer to protect the wood from bugs and the great British weather.

Then I gave it a fresh coat of paint.

I opted for this beautiful, soft sage green exterior eggshell to match our Adirondack chair upcycle

I’ve added some cushions and even got to the hot tub ready, now it’s the perfect spot to enjoy those warm summer evenings

These drawers were filthy and full of mouse poo!

After having my husband check for any inhabitants I gave it a thorough clean and prepped them

I then decided on a rich green makeover to complement the beautiful wood top.

I cleaned up the hardware to finish the upcycle

Ad | Lets Upcycle this Old Mirror….

I picked up this old farmhouse mirror and decided to try something a little different.

I cleaned up the wood frame and removed the old wax

Before using my xTool M2 to cut some wooden flower silhouettes and detailing’s that I found on the atom studio.

I used the colour printing function of the xTool M2 to print a little bumble bee.

I glued to flower outlines and detailing together before adding them to the frame

I built everything up over several layers to create a layered meadow scene before adding the final touches of bees.

Let’s Strip Back the Old Millennial Grey!

This vintage cabinet was in need of a makeover so I started by stripping back the old shabby chic chalk paint

I did not expect to find such amazing woodwork beneath it
So quickly decided on a different plan.

With such beautiful grain, a little paint can go a long way with a makeover and really help the grain pop

I’d love to know what you’d have done with this project

This Ercol Sideboard project made me cry

I went in with the paint stripper and it worked amazingly well on the side panels, but the rest it wouldn’t budge

I have no idea what paint this was but it was like concrete!

So I decided to very carefully sand back the old paint

When the paint was finally all gone, I was left with some deep scratches in this mid century piece. I gently buffed them out making sure not to go through the veneer.

When it was finally free of its paint and had a smooth finish, I refinished the wood using a hardwax oil to really bring out the beautiful grain.

Ad | These drawers were a great find at only £20

I prepped the wood with a paint and varnish stripper before giving them a thorough clean

I decided on a glazed finish for the drawer top and first drawer before going in with the FrogTape UK Advanced

I wanted a scalloped edge to the raw wood so used the to create lots of curved details.

As usual I sealed the tape edges by running a damp brush over them to activate the paint block technology and then added my colour.

I chose a mid blue, so depending on your view the piece either has a scalloped wood edge or ocean waves.

To ensure the crispest edge I peeled the while the last coat was still wet before top coating the entire piece.

So what do you sea, ocean waves or wood scallops?

Ad | I picked this huge oak worktop up for only £20

It’s solid oak so I decided to would be perfect for some grazing and chopping boards.

I cut it all down before routing the edges and sanding back the old finish.

I decided to engrave the board using my M2 and picked a highland cow from the atomm studio.

I thought the board would make the perfect gift so added a mini measurement conversion board that I engraved and cut, I then swapped the head for the colour printing and printed a gift tag

I still have 8 boards left, any suggestions on what we cold engrave on them?

I Loved this cabinet But it needed a little update…

I thoroughly cleaned and prepped the wood before using a hardwax oil to refinish the wood in the doors and drawer fronts.

The hardwax oil worked magic in bringing out the beautiful grain again but I felt the piece was missing something

I decided on using a green tinted wax on the frame work to really highlight the grain on the doors.

Ad | This £20 90s Pine find needed a makeover

I removed the hardware and stripped back the dated orange finish.

I stained the body of the piece and got debating colours to do a dipped look piece

But I simply couldn’t narrow down Painting the Past colours to only one

So I decided on a colourful striped finish!

I used a combination of in “You’re Blushing”, “Wandering”, “Remember When”, “Cooling off” and “Picnic in the Park”

I genuinely can’t decide if I like the colours or their names the most.

Either way, I found these summery colours worked really well together on the soft stained base to create a really fun piece.

Easy, No Tool Furniture Upcycle

This bedside table was first refinished back in lockdown

But with a bedroom makeover they needed an update

I used sugar soap to clean it before giving the current finish a scuff sand.

I knew the piece already had a good primer beneath so I was able to go straight in with a new colour

I then added a glaze to soften the pine top before top coating everything and adding some new pulls
