St Curigs offers that something different in bed and breakfast accommodation in the heart of Snowdonia National Park - modern ensuite bedrooms in the unique surroundings of a spectacular 19th century church. Until 1848, Capel Curig formed a chapelry in the parish of Llandegai but was administered by the priest from Dolwyddelan with worship being held in the old St Curigs church which dates from th

e 13th century and was originally Curigs Chapel from which the village got its name. With the growing number of visitors to Capel Curig in the 19th century the old St Curigs church (now St Julitta's ) became too small to accommodate the congregation and the new St Curigs church was opened in 1883. Curig, the boy martyr and the dedication of the old church was then changed to St. Whilst services where transferred to the new church the graveyard at the old church continued in use until quite recently. St Curigs was deconcecrated in 1992 and was taken over by the current owner in 1998 to be lovingly transformed to provide luxury bed and breakfast accommodation. Being located in Capel Curig the converted church is ideal for those wishing to explore Snowdonia - walkers, climbers and tourists alike

Your host Alice Douglas strives to ensure that St Curigs offers high quality accommodation which is unique for the area, providing both character and charm along with personal and friendly service. The guest area at St Curigs includes four modern en-suite bedrooms - two double rooms with hand carved four poster beds and two twin rooms All are furnished and decorated to a high standard and are provided with colour television and hospitality trays. The dining room and guests lounge area is located in the former apse featuring a towering ceiling, stained glass windows and the lavishly decorated mosaic ceiling commissioned in memory of his wife by William Edward Sackville-West - the estate manager to Lord Penrhyn. Made by the Salviati company whose other work grace the Houses of Parliament and St. Whilst our en-suite bathrooms may be sufficient for many after a good day out in the mountains for those who come prepared our outdoor whirlpool hot tub could be the way to relax and ease those aching muscles. Walkers and Cyclists welcome - drying facilities are available for wet clothing and boots

Welsh musicians, Richard Ormrod and Mary Hofman are joined by the fantastic viola player, Emma Sheppard (formerly principal with English National Ballet) and inspirational Rebecca Knight on cello (guest principal with City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, principal player with City of London Sinfonia).

They will be performing Czech composer, Martinu's extraordinary, virtuosic piano quartet; its three movements move through intense emotion, lyricism and playful, folk music-inspired fantasy.

This will be followed by one of Brahms's masterworks: the C minor piano quartet, often known as the Werther Quartet due to its allusions to Goethe's novella 'The Sorrows of Young Werther'. It is a work of passionate intensity and lyrical beauty.
