Behind every finished piece is a process of testing, learning and refining.

During product development, a sample helps answer the practical questions that drawings alone can’t: Will it move as intended? Will it hold? Can it be machined cleanly? How does the material respond? Does the finish work? And, ultimately, does it feel right?

Each test gives us something to take into the next version, gradually turning a creative idea into something that can be made reliably and work as intended.

From CNC machining and material testing to hand finishing, prototyping and small-batch manufacture, August is about the precision, skill and problem-solving behind our process.

Wood is not a uniform sheet material. It has grain, tone, direction and behaviour. Choosing well is part of the craft and part of making furniture that lasts.

Flow is not just a current product. It is evidence of refinement: sculpted curves, solid hardwood, careful joinery and a form resolved enough to stack without losing its character.

A prototype reveals the practical truth of an idea: where the material wants support, where an edge needs changing, where a beautiful detail becomes easier to make and better to live with.
