UVA lamp draws inspiration from the form of wine grapes and the sensory explosion of their flavor. The notion of “explosion” is understood both metaphorically and physically — as a suspended moment of energy, expansion, and dispersion.

The piece captures the ephemeral instant when light radiates outward, evoking fireworks dissolving into the air.

In this beautiful conversation with Kaja Werbanowska, I share my journey—from my first encounter with light during my time in the Canary Islands to creating sculptural lamps in my workshop in Badalona, Barcelona.

We talk about the influence of sculpture and materic painting, the poetry hidden within cellulose pulp, and the search for forms that exist somewhere between art and design.

The cellulose fiber is mixed with a water-based adhesive. As it dries, it loses a significant amount of moisture. During this evaporation process, the surface develops an irregular, textured finish, revealing larger, partially blended fibers. Each piece forms a unique pattern, making every texture completely one of a kind and impossible to replicate.

Working with cellulose fiber pulp feels a bit like preparing dough for bread. Mixing the material by hand is a very calming process — almost meditative.

It’s one of the moments in the studio when I stop overthinking and simply focus on the material, its texture, and the rhythm of the process.

The VULCANO collection is a series of five lamps inspired by volcanic forms, raw landscapes, and the warmth of light emerging from within.

For me, these pieces are somewhere between lamps and totems — sculptural objects that connect natural forces with human craftsmanship. The idea came from the contrast between fire as a wild, transformative force and light as something intimate that brings calm, warmth, and a sense of safety into a space.

Each piece is handcrafted from cellulose fiber and water-based adhesive, and finished in natural grey tones.
