How to warm up white
We do love us some white walls! We don’t believe white walls mean cold, sterile spaces either! We use the white as a base to build on and here are a few ways we do it!
1. Add texture to the white wall, either with a finish or fabric
2. Incorporate wood accents in the design and decor
3. Bring in texture, color and pattern through fabrics/accessories
4. Choose a warmer white so you can work in creams and beiges into the furniture
5. Add art to the walls and consider the colors and tones in the art piece

Black + White
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sometimes keeping it simple is the best way to achieve the look! We love a design that mixes materials, but sometimes keeping it clean and sticking with a single color fits the design better.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
With this cabin, we chose to mix three types of siding that are all all the same color to achieve the texture and variation instead of playing with colors to break up the design.

Sneak peak
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This vintage LOTW cottage also got an exterior refresh that we can’t wait to share with you! Cedar siding that required a ton of maintenance got swapped out with bright white cement board. New black windows were added as well to complete the transformation!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Stay tuned this week to see a few more shots of this project before we update our portfolio with the full Reno!

Banquette seating
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s not just about looks, it’s also about functionality! What would’ve otherwise been an underutilized corner is now a deep, comfy seat that brings everyone around the dining table in a casual and comfortable way! The bench seating is also a great way to minimize the clearances needed for seating.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
How do you feel about banquette seating? Yay or Nay?

Design with purpose.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
….and the purpose of these cabinets was to crate an easily accessible pantry space! Some spaces allow for a walk in pantry, others benefit more from pantry millwork. We love that this pantry wall blends in seamlessly with the rest of the kitchen and helps frame the grand built-in seating.
Are you a fan of cabinets for storage or a walk in pantry room?

Design is in the details
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Even when curating an exterior, the details matter - down to the vintage inspired thermometer from Target! You can be thoughtful with exterior accessories too!

Let’s talk siding
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Do you have a favorite? One of ours cement board and composite siding because of its low maintenance. For this project we used Woodtone’s Rustic Series in a shake, lap and board + batten. We mixed grey and black with some green treaded wood and fir to warm it up!

The candy coating
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We love when we get to include exteriors in our design scope! Being able to create a united interior and exterior brings us great joy!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Adding some fun details like the fir wood roof over the roof is always so fun to see come to life! We tightened the spacing to 4” over the overhang so it could act as part of the railing and create a special little corner.

What’s your dream kitchen like?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Kitchens are one of the most used spaces in a home with the highest value! Making sure you’ve got the appropriate flow and storage space is critical in a successful design. Not everyone uses their kitchen in the same way, so it’s important to understand how YOU want to use the space!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
They are one of our favorite spaces to design!

Welcome to the lake!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This vintage 1903 cabin in LOTW got a huge update so that it would flow better for what the client needed. Instead of knocking it down and starting from scratch, we dove into space planning and honored the history of this beautiful place!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
An open kitchen and dining at the lake front was a critical want. We eliminated 2 small bedrooms to accommodate this change. Working with mixed woods and keeping the vintage vibes was important to us in this design! We love how it came together! Do you!?

I spy..
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Can you see the detail we love? Flip to the second photo to see if you notice it!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We added an additional 1" of thickness to the countertop to create an extra bold and beefed up look for the island. Something so simple can really change the look and add a stand out detail!
