Something different...
During my retirement I have tried making various types of furniture. I have ventured into chicken coops, outhouses, renovating houses and building garages but this is my first ever wall mounted cat obstacle course. I hope Elliott enjoys his new workout program.🐈💪

Entertainment Wall Unit...
We got this done just in time for the holidays. Dimensions are 11' W x 8' H, it accommodates a 75" TV and 50" fireplace. Materials, 2x3 spruce framing, cladded with 1/4" mdf, 3/4" mdf for cabinets and doors, hardware, baseboard and crown moulding. Final step plenty of Lepage wood filler to hide my mistakes, then Betty primed to prep for Benjamin Moore paint and did her decorating magic. Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas from the shop.

After a lot of hard work scraping and sanding, Betty has transformed our stairs. Thirty-five spindles, 3 newel posts, 3 banisters, and 14 steps. We installed the traditional wooden stair brackets to add some character, time to varethane each step, and it's a rap.

Carla🐕 is happy that we finally finished the build after geting the roof shingled. We decided on lighthouse red siding with white trim, soffit and facia. The electrical is almost done then its time for a shed party. A huge Thank you to Ron Laracy for helping with the build and Avalon Home Hardware for all the supplies and guidance during the project. We finally have a Newfoundland red shed!

It's been a warm week, but Ron and I started Monday and got the walls framed and sheeted. On Wednesday, a big thanks to da boys Freddie Gregory, Richard Mackey, Gerald Crane, and Betty, who helped raise two 24' walls. Then, on Thursday and Friday, Ron, Betty, and I made 13 trusses for the roof. It's time for a rest over the weekend, then Monday back at it for truss installation.

Our friend had 2 pairs of old bifold closet doors that she wanted to change in her entranceway. Betty suggested we give them a fresh coat of paint and remove the middle hinges, and make two sets of swinging doors. I removed the top track and added wood to replace the space after the priming and painting were done . I did the install and added the very cool stone handles our friend picked out. Reuse, repurpose, and restore to keep it affordable.

Time for a small raised garden by the bay. We bought a galvanized kit from a friend and assembled it. Then it was time to spruce it up with some pressure treated lumber so Betty can sit or kneel when gardening.

We needed something to cover up our electrical panel in our front entranceway, so our friend gave us a Newfoundland Tourism poster. I made a raised frame with some leftover floor trim, and Betty painted it white. The scene is from Fogo Island, with the caption poking a little humor at the Flat Earth Society.

It was time to give our tiny front yard a facelift. We were given a large rock for the front step and found plenty of flat stone on our property. Betty began the process of arranging the jigsaw puzzle for the walkway and flower bed. Then the fun began removing sod, digging both areas down ,laying gravel and bedding sand, re-laying of stones, and lastly, mulch. It's time for a cocktail by the bay.

Some leftover MDF and a section of pine from previous house projects to make a small shelve. Betty painted the MDF white and stained the top with Walnut to provide a spot for our old school DVD player and collection of classic DVDs and board games.

White Oak Screen Door...
It was time to make a new full-size screen door out of white oak to stand up to the elements in Nfld. Carla requested that she have a large lower viewing area to monitor pedestrian traffic on the road and boat/whale traffic in the bay out front of our place to fulfill her part time harbour master duties. 🐋🛥🚶♂️
