Welcome to the first edition of our Designer Vignettes series.

At Interior Living, we believe the most inspiring spaces are created when great design meets great collaboration. Throughout the year, we’ll be inviting some of Calgary’s most talented designers to transform a vignette in our showroom into an expression of their own creative vision.

We’re honoured to kick off the series with Amir Zokaee, founder and lead designer of Zokaee Studio.

With more than nine years of experience, degrees in Fine Arts and Environmental Design, and a role as a post-secondary interior design instructor, Amir brings a thoughtful, client-first approach to every project. His work is rooted in creating spaces that are as functional as they are beautiful, with every detail carefully considered to reflect the people who live within them.

For this inaugural vignette, Amir curated a warm, sophisticated space featuring a thoughtful mix of Canadian, European, and American brands available through Interior Living, including EQ3, Romano, Trica, Surya, Calligaris, Jaipur Rugs, and Uttermost.

The space is brought to life with works by artists Mitchell Fenton, Charlie Easton, Michaela Hoppe, Hayden Macrae, and Maria Munar, alongside handcrafted pieces from Dougherty Glassworks, Good Beast, Field Kit, and Matchstick Boutique.

Every piece has been intentionally selected to showcase how exceptional furniture, art, and craftsmanship come together to create a home with depth, personality, and soul.

Visit our showroom to experience Amir’s vision in person, discover the stories behind every maker, and stay tuned as we continue celebrating the incredible talent shaping Calgary’s design community through our Designer Vignettes series.

Lamps don’t have to live on a nightstand or tucked into the corner anymore.

Melissa’s take? Put a lamp anywhere you want people to gravitate toward.

Lighting is one of the easiest ways to create mood and draw the eye through a room. A beautiful lamp can define a little moment, add another decorative layer, balance larger furniture and artwork, or make an overlooked corner suddenly feel intentional.

Think consoles, kitchen counters, bookshelves, dining rooms, unexpected corners and anywhere that could use a little warmth.

Where would you put one?

Come into the Interior Living showroom and explore our collection of lamps. You might just find the piece that changes the entire mood of your room.

SUZY’S CURRENT ART CRUSH

There are some pieces of art you simply have to see in person.

Suzy’s favourite in the gallery right now is Villa and Pile of Cobblestones by Drew Klassen. Rich in texture, detail and quiet complexity, it’s the kind of work that draws you in from across the room, then rewards you for getting a little closer.

And trust us, the details need to be seen up close.

Come experience it in person at Gibson Fine Art inside Interior Living and discover the pieces our team can’t stop thinking about.

New Maker Spotlight | Holly Shearer

We love discovering beautiful things made right here in Calgary.

Meet Holly Shear, a talented Calgary commercial designer who brings her incredible eye for form, proportion, and detail to these charming handmade ceramic vessels.

Small in scale but full of personality, each piece feels like its own little work of art. Style one or many on a coffee table, bookshelf, console, bedside table, or anywhere that could use a thoughtful finishing touch. Display them on their own, add a tiny stem, or group a few together for an effortlessly collected look.

They’re the kind of pieces that make a home feel personal, and we especially love that they allow us to celebrate and support creativity within our own Calgary design community.

Discover Holly’s ceramics, now available in the Interior Living showroom.

Maker Spotlight | KITCHIBE

A candle that’s almost too beautiful to burn.

Meet KITCHIBE Crinkle Candles, where Japanese fragrance, craftsmanship and design come together in one very special object.

Made in Japan, each candle is housed in beautifully sculptural Seto white porcelain, a ceramic tradition with more than 1,300 years of history. The organic “crinkle” form was designed by Makoto Komatsu to capture the beauty of unexpected shapes, giving the vessel just as much presence as the fragrance inside. (Kitchibe)

The candles are made with domestically sourced, plant-based waxes, including soy, palm and rapeseed, rather than paraffin. Their lower melting temperature allows KITCHIBE’s delicate fragrances to diffuse beautifully while providing a stable, cleaner burn. Each candle offers up to approximately 40 hours of burn time. (Kitchibe)

The scents themselves are inspired by Japanese culture, seasons and rituals, from Sakura and Matcha to Yuzu, Ikebana and Karesansui. (Kitchibe)

Beautiful enough to become an object in your home long after the candle is finished, these are the kind of thoughtful little luxuries we love carrying at Interior Living.

The perfect host gift when you don’t want to arrive empty-handed, or an equally good excuse to treat yourself.

Discover KITCHIBE in the Interior Living showroom.

It’s all about balance.

Melissa’s rule of thumb? When one element speaks loudly, let the others quiet down.

Bold patterned rug? Keep the sofa fabric simple.
Statement art? Choose more subdued furniture.
Busy sofa? Keep your coffee table clean and minimal.
Lots of hard lines? Soften the room with curves and rounded edges.

The best rooms aren’t about everything competing for attention. They’re about knowing when to make a statement and when to let it shine.
