The Yellow Bookshelf. A bookshelf's design can be a testament to the designer’s style and craftsmanship in terms of shape, colour and how the chosen materials are implemented to perform a function. However, it's the books and objects on its shelves that ultimately reflect the owner's inner self.

5 years ago I designed and made this reading lamp questioning Belgian design trends. This designer lamp with upcycled elements is endlessly adjustable in height without any mechanism as it purely relies on the friction between the chord in a tube. The light intensity can be adjusted by just switching on and off the lamp. With simplicity key, room is created for the poetry to step forward. A 5kg weight forms the base of this lamp on of the reasons for its name: Lightweight.

Painting Number 2. Acrylic Urethane wall paint on 12mm plywood. Dimensions 1,25 by 1m. Title: Off The Hook “Reborn” Bench made in the our studio. It was an interesting project of creating beauty by not using any new materials. I started from a disused kneeling bench out of a church. I disassembled the Bench to its singular parts, reworked some of them to finally create a new sum of its parts but in a different configuration. The soul of the material stayed with the parts and regained life into a new object called Reborn.

Creativity transcends the different disciplines of art. I enjoy deviating from furniture design to experiment in different fields. If it becomes slippery it is worthwhile. New work: Red Bra.
