Would you believe this timber grain is actually painted on? 👀
That’s why I love a faux timber finish so much. You don’t need beautiful timber underneath to still achieve a beautiful timber look.
If you love the shape of a piece but strip it back and the timber is patchy, mismatched or just… not cute 😂 you still have options.
These bedsides are the perfect example 🤎

I picked these bedsides up because I absolutely loved the shape of them… the paint job they came with, not so much 😂
My original plan was to strip them right back and let the timber do the talking, but even though they were solid timber underneath, it just wasn’t a timber I loved enough to leave raw.
So, change of plans 🤎
I went for my faux Pottery Barn-style timber finish instead, only this time I took it much darker than I usually do and I LOVE how rich and moody they turned out.
The painted-on grain completely changed the look of these and gave them that warm, solid timber feel I was hoping for.
And of course, I finished them off with Wise Owl Paint Matte Clear for that true timber-look finish ✨
