This time, we let In Residence have a little fun. We went looking for the pieces that make you pause mid-scroll the unexpected shapes, playful colours, slightly odd objects and wonderfully whimsical things that somehow make a room feel so much more considered.

Basically, the pieces that start the conversation before you’ve even sat down.

Temple House has us thinking about the choreography of coming home. The architecture gives art, material and daily rituals equal weight, creating interiors that feel highly composed without becoming precious. Verde Alpi stone, silver travertine, oak and timber form a rich material language, while the artwork punctuates the home with moments of colour and expression. It’s a sophisticated approach to family living, where every material and spatial decision feels deliberate.

Field House is the kind of renovation that makes you reconsider what “old meets new” can actually look like. The 1930s Malvern mansion keeps its architectural soul while making room for contemporary art, custom joinery and a wonderfully tactile material palette. We’re especially into the way the details keep revealing themselves from a custom stone sink tucked into a compact powder room, marble meeting bronzed steel in the ensuite, and a kitchen opened up for family life and entertaining. A heritage home with a distinctly contemporary point of view.

Pavilion House has us questioning why the holiday feeling should ever end when you get home. Set in Avalon, the renovation leans into a softer kind of luxury the restrained interiors, tactile micro-cement, custom furniture and art, all opening effortlessly towards the garden. What really stayed with us is the attention to ritual: an infrared sauna, steam room, heated pool and outdoor spa bathroom turn ordinary routines into something worth lingering over.
