Rama Afullo, Founder & CEO of Satlyt, delivered the Keynote Address at the IEEE AFRICON Conference, where he explored the theme โBuilding the Cloud in Orbit: Africaโs Role in the Future of Edge AI and Space Infrastructure.โ
In his address, Afullo highlighted the transformative potential of space-based computing and emphasised how Africa can position itself at the forefront of this emerging frontier. He discussed the convergence of satellite systems, distributed cloud architectures, and edge AI, outlining a roadmap for how the continent can leverage these technologies to unlock new economic opportunities, strengthen digital sovereignty, and accelerate innovation across sectors.
