Mended Grain

This decorative dry vase is made from the fallen timber of the “Rainbow Tree”, a Cottonwood that arched across the pedestrian trail at , and eventually succumbed to storm winds. This vase is approx 12” tall 9” DIA, and hollowed to 9” depth keeping some mass at the bottom. Finished with walnut oil and wax.

Pendant light, made out of locally sourced Cherry Hardwood. Practicing the nerve wrecking art of thin wall turning 🫣. I stopped this one at 1/8” thick. Finished with walnut oil & bees wax.

Haven’t turned a bowl in a while. Nice little p***y Spalted Maple. About 8” wide. Used starbond white on the bottom cracks. Finished with walnut oil and bees wax.

The second mango blank. The outside of this Mango Hollow form was pretty bland. I could see a little mineral coloring, but no figure. So I was pleasantly surprised when I got it round… Also featuring my first attempt at a carved rim feature.

Made a ooops. Got cocky and didn’t measure a second time. Finished tenon, finished sanding, go to out the chuck on… 🤷🏻‍♂️ just at 1mm included, so now my jaws won’t fit 😵‍💫. Maybe I’ll cut in some, and try my first carved foot. You know, lemonadezz🍸

I don’t buy many dry blanks, and when I saw this at a month ago, I talked myself out of buying it. It was still there this morning and came home with me. Swipe through to see what it looks like after a few hours of cutting! 🤠

11”Dia x 4”tall Maple Hollow form. I have turned lots of dry maple, but never green. It’s a whole lot easier to work with than p***y Box Elder! 🤪 outside Finished with CA, inside with walnut oil.
