Arc flash is something our industry talks about every day—but Derek’s story is a powerful reminder of why those conversations matter.
After surviving an arc flash, derek the solarboi has openly shared his experience while continuing to learn more about the hazard, the science behind it, and how workers can better protect themselves.
His story stood out to us because this work has always been about more than clothing. It’s about the people wearing it—their lives, their families, and making sure they go home safely.
Arc-rated clothing exists for moments no one ever wants to experience. It’s one critical layer of protection that can help reduce the severity of burn injuries in an arc flash—and Derek’s experience is a powerful reminder of why that protection—and continued education about these hazards—matters so much.
We’re grateful that Derek is willing to share his story and turn an incredibly difficult experience into an opportunity for others to learn.

Thank you for sharing your story, Derek.

The people powering our communities deserve protection they can count on.
Tyndale is heading to the San Diego Convention Center September 18–20 to connect with IBEW members and leaders about protecting electrical workers—and what a more modern AR/FR clothing program can look like.
As workforces grow and safety needs evolve, your clothing program should evolve with them. Employees want more options, easier ordering, and garments they feel confident wearing. Safety and internal teams need consistency, visibility, and expert support without carrying the full administrative burden themselves.
Come meet the Tyndale team to talk about your current AR/FR program, the challenges you’re facing, and how Tyndale can help build a safer, easier-to-manage solution backed by AR/FR expertise.
And while you’re with us, enter for a chance to win a YETI cooler and a pair of boots.

We’re only partway through 2026, and Tyndale members are already making a meaningful impact in the communities where we live and work.
Led by our Proud to Help Committee, this year’s efforts have supported heart health, survivors of domestic violence, environmental initiatives, veterans and their families, hunger relief, and animal welfare.
A few highlights so far: 19 Houston members volunteered at the Houston Food Bank, PA members packed 350 bags of food for the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen, and our members helped support six animal charities across the country.
And we’re not done yet. More Proud to Help initiatives are planned throughout the remainder of 2026.

Today’s Best of Arc Week pick takes on four of the most dangerous words in arc flash safety today: “We don’t work energized.” ⚡🦈
