With one of our two talented minds being a talent with his hands, decided he’d come home from work with some 100year old native wood. If only I got some before pictures to show how this wood was compared with what it was revived to.

Was lots of fun building this for our almost 1 year old son for Christmas. It is a go to toy for him, as like all boys, they like to get into things they shouldn’t.

We managed to get our hands on some macrocarpa to make some stunning shelves. As we do sell some of the things we make, our daughter was not a fan of us selling these ones. When you put the love into what you’re doing, the end product is so evident of that. This wood does have a stain and varnish, but this is just the beginning of trialling different woods. @ Auckland, New Zealand

It was a weekend of making the most of the weather for the shelves that people are asking for. For him it’s using all the years of building knowledge and passion, for me it’s finishing the product, making it uniquely beautiful. An eye for detail. Together we create pieces that we are so proud of. Watch this space.

We tried something new this weekend and made his and hers rings. With macrocarpa wood, time and a few tricks we have made our first rings. It’s truly amazing just how durable wood can be, and pretty. With practice and finesse these will look so awesome. @ Auckland, New Zealand

Loved trying the charcoal stain this time around and we made the shelves slightly longer this time and the brackets on this set are longer giving it quite a nice look when they are one on top of the other. Stay tuned for the other colours that we have finished off. @ Auckland, New Zealand
Followed by some staining. At the moment we are using some new colours that caught our eye. Variety is the spice of life. As is trying new things and learning along the way.
