A single bed for Room 2. Made out of 4x2, 3x1 and 12mm ply.

TV cabinet almost complete. Just needs some coats of paint.

Project 3.

I realised yesterday that I needed a couple of saw horses rather than use a chair to cut my wood.

So I started making a couple of saw horses. I found a great example online about a week or so ago and I bought some offcuts to make them today - some of the wood is a bit knotty so I hope it wont be a problem. It cost me a little but I think I have enough to make 4 - so 2 pairs. You need to make a pair to be useful. I think I will sell the other pair for $40-$50. I only need one set for myself.

Project 2.

A shelving unit to sit in the small hall going out to the backyard. 1.3m(w) x 1.5m(h). The shelving is narrow - recently we pulled down the old kitchen out the back and salvaged/used the weatherboard. The wood had a bit of borer. To fix this problem I followed a friend's advice to use flyspray on the wood and paint the wood using paint to hide the holes rather than use varnish or stain.

Noticeably the shelving unit wobbles a little, so to counteract this I will be nailing vertical supporting planks on the back of the shelving unit. I will be visiting the hardware store on Monday to get some wood.

Well back on the saddle again after years not posting, years not making anything. For a couple of years I compiled a book of recipes and wrote a website/spent time doing an online dictionary. I'm now pretty much spending my time in Niue. Out of necessity I have started making some more furniture for the family house in Utuko, Alofi Niue.

Have 3 projects going on at the moment.

Project 1.

A tv cabinet - you would think it was easy but you have to get all the angles right. It just dawned on me that if the joins and planks are not perpendicular or level, the TV is going to look like it is leaning forward or backward. Here is a picture of the TV cabinet - at this point it needs a panel on the back, some filler, a light sand and then several coats of paint before it is completed. I'll post a picture of the end product once I have completed it.

Its funny how you spend weeks not being in the mood and then suddenly you feel motivated to create a bit of wooden furniture and then follow through by spending the whole day putting it together. Over Sunday it was. See pics attached. Made out of pallet wood. I'm going to chuck it on trademe and test the waters. Fun Project!

An arcade game! My friend had one of these made for him by his brother and I thought I would make one for my bro'. It has been in the pipe line for at least a year but for some reason I didnt feel motivated to do it until the last few days. That is the problem with being creative - its not always on tap. Anyway check it out. It is nearly completed - just needs panels on the side (have run out of wood) that are joined at the top with handles on either side and the front/rear needs to be some sort of mesh so the air can come in and cool the computer housing.Oh also might need a coat of paint. FUN project!!

Finally got round to making myself another workbench. Same as the first one I made except a little deeper and not as wide.

1200mm (W) x 800mm (D) x 910mm (H).

Used roofing screws, fence railings and 18mm treated ply.

Hi all,
I've started making use of pallets in my workshop to make a number of different types of furniture - a coat hanger that you can hang at the front/back door (less the coathooks at present), letterboxes (one currently complete), and a shoe rack. As you can see the shoe rack is pretty much all cut up ready to assemble and sand. And the letter boxes are pretty much done. Because it is pallet wood cost of the items is really the labour involved although coat hooks are more expensive than I first thought they would be. So I'm hoping that I can find some cheap ones. All in all - FUN projects! I will update the page when the incomplete items are finished.

Finally - my clients mailbox installed on her fence. Client chose and painted it orange. Building this letterbox took such a long time - taught me a hell of a lot. Attached to the fence post and the fence. I keep learning. Keep on learning :) The dimensions made it challenging. (600mm x 560mm x 300mm). See previous posting. Next time I am going to hide the hinges that is my challenge to myself - keep learning. Fun Project!!
