For a long time, I have chosen to remain quiet on many issues in this space. Not because I don't have an opinion, and certainly not because I don't know how to express myself. Sometimes, you simply reach a point where you become more interested in building yourself than explaining yourself to people who have already decided what they want to believe.

But today, I want to say something.
We need to stop making a woman's success about a man.
Every time a woman rises, someone wants to know who she slept with.
Every time she gets an appointment, someone asks who she knows.
Every time she gets a promotion, someone assumes there must be a man behind it.
Every time she walks into a room she works hard to enter, someone wants to discredit her achievement.

Why?
Why can't a woman simply be qualified?
Why can't she be intelligent?
Why can't she be hardworking?
Why can't she be ambitious?
Why can't she be good at what she does?
We have normalized disrespecting successful women so much that some people cannot see a woman's achievement without first searching for a man to attach to it.

And honestly, women deserve better than that.
A woman can work hard and still receive help.
A woman can have connections and still be competent.
A woman can know influential people and still have earned her place.
A woman can be beautiful, educated, ambitious, and capable all at the same time.
Her success does not automatically become evidence of what she did in someone's bedroom.

And this is not just about one woman.
This is about every woman who is working to become better.
The young woman is going to school.
The woman building a business from nothing.
The mother working two jobs.
The woman learning a new skill.
The woman sitting in an office trying to prove herself.

The woman who has been told repeatedly that she will never amount to anything.
The woman who keeps showing up despite everything she has been through.
This is for all women working to get to where they need to be.

Do not let people's assumptions make you ashamed of your progress.
Do not allow anyone to make you feel that your achievements need a man's name attached to them before they become legitimate.

And women, we also have to do better.
Stop tearing down another woman simply because she is doing well.
Stop becoming the first people to spread rumors about another woman's success.
Stop helping society diminish women.
If a woman is doing wrong, call out what she did wrong.
If she is incompetent, address her incompetence.
If she has made a mistake, criticize the mistake.

But stop attacking her womanhood as a substitute for an argument.
Because when we reduce every successful woman to “who she slept with,” we are teaching the next generation of girls that their intelligence will never be enough.
And I refuse to accept that.
Women can rise without sleeping their way to the top.

Women can lead.
Women can build.
Women can succeed.
Women can sit at the table because they earned their seat.

So to every woman still fighting, still building, still learning, still sacrificing, and still trying to become the woman she knows she can be:
Keep going.
Let them talk.
Let them speculate.
Let them create their own stories.
Your results will eventually speak louder than their assumptions.
Stand up and let this “who she slept with” narrative end.
Women deserve far better than this.

For years, I have tried not to give my opinion on many issues in this space, not because I don't know how to write or make my opinion known, but because there comes a time when you try to invest so much in yourself that you lose interest in so much that happens in the social space.

I have not come here today to attack anyone, neither am I here to defend anyone. But sometimes, as women, we need to have honest conversations about the way we treat one another and the narratives we create around the success of other women.

One thing I have noticed is that when a woman begins to rise, instead of asking about her qualifications, her sacrifices, her intelligence, her hard work, or the years she has invested in becoming who she is, people are quick to ask, “Who did she sleep with?”

Why is it so difficult for some people to believe that a woman can actually be competent?
Why must every successful woman have a man attached to her success?

Why can't we simply say, “She worked for this. She earned this. She is capable.”
We have to stop reducing women's achievements to their relationships with men.
A woman can be beautiful and intelligent.
A woman can be connected and still be qualified.

A woman can know powerful people and still have worked hard for her position.
A woman can have received help along the way and still possess the competence required to succeed.

Not every woman who makes it to a position of influence slept her way there.
And even when a woman makes mistakes, falls short, or does something we disagree with, we should be able to criticize her actions without attacking her dignity as a woman.

There is a dangerous culture of tearing women down, especially when they begin to rise. Sometimes the very people who should encourage another woman become the first to question her character, her body, her relationships, and how she got where she is.
We need to do better.

Because every time we reduce a woman's achievement to “who she slept with,” we are not only insulting that woman—we are sending a message to every young girl watching that her intelligence, education, hard work, and determination will never be enough.
And that message is wrong.
Women deserve to be recognized for their merit.

Women deserve to be respected for their competence.
Women deserve to occupy spaces without having to constantly prove that they did not sleep their way there.
And to all the women working to get to where they need to be:

Stand up and let this “who she slept with” narrative end.
Women deserve far better than this.
Keep building. Keep learning. Keep working. Keep investing in yourself.

Your journey may not look like someone else's journey, but that does not make your achievement less valuable.
There are women who are fighting battles nobody knows about, making sacrifices nobody sees, raising children, building businesses, pursuing careers, going back to school, supporting families, and still showing up every day.

Celebrate those women.
Encourage those women.
Correct them when necessary, but don't destroy them.
And most importantly, don't allow society to convince you that your only value is in who chooses you, who loves you, or who you are connected to.

You are capable of becoming something on your own.
To every woman still working to get where she needs to be—keep going.

One day, the same people questioning your journey will look at your results and understand the sacrifices it took to get there.
Stand up. Build yourself. Know your worth. And let this “who she slept with” narrative end.
