Greenfield Residency 2026 | Results
We have our winners!
We’re excited to welcome Dr. Ioanna Symeonidou and her team from the University of Thessaly .of.Thessaly to Vertico later this year.
Their project explores something we haven’t tried before: 3D printing transparent concrete.Together, we’ll investigate what is possible, what limitations we encounter, and which fabrication strategies could work. We’ll experiment with the relationship between concrete, light and shadow, and see where robotic fabrication can take the idea.
We were especially happy to see students actively involved in the project and look forward to bringing the research into our facility for full-scale experimentation.

This year we received so many thoughtful and ambitious proposals from all over the world. We spent a lot of time discussing the projects as a team, and making the final decision was definitely not easy.

Our Largest Installation Yet | Portugal
A new milestone for Vertico.
We’re proud to announce the installation of our largest system delivered to date at Itecons in Portugal, an institute dedicated to applied research, testing, and innovation in construction, energy, environmen and sustainability. As a bridge between academia and industry, ITeCons develops new construction technologies and supports research into innovative building materials and systems, making it an exciting place for advanced concrete printing.
The installation features our Robot on Track system with a 10-meter track and a 3.1-meter robot reach, giving the team the flexibility to produce large-scale concrete elements.
To celebrate the installation, we also reached a new Vertico milestone by printing our tallest column yet at 3 meters high.
We’re excited to see more researchers, students, and industry partners gain access to this technology and explore what is possible with large-scale 3D concrete printing.
A big thank you to the ITeCons team for the collaboration. We wish you many successful prints and look forward to seeing the innovative projects that will come out of your new lab.

We’re incredibly grateful to have received so many thoughtful, innovative, and highly competitive applications this year.
This year, we’re excited to welcome applicants from across the globe, including Australia, Ecuador, Germany, the Netherlands, Peru, Spain, Turkey and Egypt. It’s inspiring to see such a diverse range of ideas and approaches to 3D concrete printing.
Our team is now carefully reviewing all submissions, and we’ll soon begin the interview round.

Last Chance to Apply | Greenfield Residency 2026
Time is running out! This is the last week to submit your application for the Vertico Greenfield Residency 2026.
If you’re a professor, assistant professor, or studio supervisor, this is your opportunity to give your students hands on experience with industrial robotic fabrication and turn research ideas into full scale prototypes.
Whether your project explores 3D concrete printing, robotic milling, clay printing, or another experimental fabrication process, we welcome innovative proposals that make meaningful use of robotics.
Over the past editions, Greenfield has brought together academic teams from Egypt, Turkey, Germany, and the United States, resulting in exciting collaborations and full scale research projects.

OPENCALL | Greenfield Residency 2026
Vertico is excited to announce the third edition of the Greenfield Residency, our annual Open Call for academic institutions looking to bring innovative research and design projects into physical reality.
The residency was created to provide students with access to technologies they may not normally have the opportunity to use. Selected teams will spend a week at our facility in Eindhoven, working directly with industrial robotic systems and gaining hands-on experience in advanced manufacturing.
While many projects make use of our 3D concrete printing technology, the residency is not limited to concrete. We welcome proposals that explore robotic fabrication in a broader sense. If your project requires robotics, we would love to hear about it.
Previous winners include the Responsive Ground Research Lab from Gebze Teknik Topluluğu Gebze Technical University and Işık Üniversitesi Isik University. The quality of submissions has been so high that two additional teams from German International University - giuberlin in Berlin and Woodbury University Woodbury University also went on to complete smaller residencies with Vertico.
Our goal remains simple: to open our workshop to ambitious students, researchers, and educators, creating opportunities for innovation, learning, experimentation, and collaboration.
Registration deadline: July 26th, 2026 (max 500 word statement)
Production week: First week of November 2026 (flexible)
