The sessions that produced this track by Brothers Water became especially poignant, for many reasons. Partly recorded by myself, this has turned out to be as wonderful a song as it appeared to be in its raw state. A lovely, genuinely emotional piece. What more can I say? Listen here:

I'm delighted to see this album out and doing well. I recorded the brass parts on a few of the songs, on a very enjoyable session back in the spring with Bennett Holland, the great Haggis Horns, Manu himself and his co-producer Nikko Bonniere. The album is already riding the international blues charts, rubbing shoulders with some truly illustrious company. Modern, supercharged sounds fused with the timeless spirit of the blues. Manu and his band are playing Paris Bataclan on 21/11/25.

Coca Leaf 5: Another album I have been involved with is out. Written by Mr. Andy Cook and Dr Steve Moorhead, of Yellow Arch studios. A labour of love this one. It took about two years of weekly sessions, but it is so worth it for the funk.... A straight-up funky experience, it features solos galore from a group of hand-picked Sheffield session players. Hello there.

As usual, I haven’t posted for ages, but there have still been loads of things going on. However, the release of this EP has motivated me to post as it’s one of the best things I have ever had the pleasure of working on. This is Annie Priest, singer songwriter from Sheffield’s new 4 track EP. It takes some personality and difference to make something unique when you’re only using vocals, piano/acoustic guitar and strings, yet she does just that. A fresh voice in conscious songwriting, I think we’ll be hearing about her a lot in the future so check her out early here if you’re reading this. She is playing in Sheffield this coming Saturday (Mary St. Live), but it may well be sold out by now, and you’ll hear why here:
