HYDE PARK TERRACE PHASE II | Staircase Design
A staircase should feel more than functional — it should create a memorable first impression.
For this Grade II listed Hyde Park Terrace property, we transformed the entrance staircase into a statement feature by pairing a classic white banister with rich botanical wallpaper inspired by biophilic design. The greenery tones create depth, softness, and visual drama while complementing the muted pink and green palette carried throughout the home.
By blending traditional architectural detailing with bold pattern and colour, the staircase became a sophisticated focal point that instantly sets the tone for the interior beyond.

Colour should do more than decorate a room — it should connect spaces and create flow throughout the home.
In this mezzanine design, bold tones were introduced through joinery and furniture to energise the interior while maintaining harmony with the surrounding architecture.
When colour is applied intentionally, it creates depth, character, and a sense of continuity that elevates the entire space.

Yes — and it’s one of the most important parts of good interior design. Through thoughtful space planning, lighting design, colour palettes, glazing, reflective materials, and window treatments, a designer can dramatically improve how light moves through a home.
Even darker spaces can feel brighter, warmer, and more inviting when approached correctly. Luxury interiors are not only about aesthetics — they’re about how a space feels to live in every day.

A mezzanine should feel connected to the wider home while maintaining its own identity.
For this project, bespoke shelving was designed to house the client’s extensive book collection, transforming literature itself into a design feature. Rich colours, integrated lighting, and carefully considered joinery create a library space that feels immersive, elegant, and deeply personal.
A room designed not just for storage — but for living.

Designing with Purpose and Personality
The most successful interiors reflect the people who live in them.
Colour plays a vital role in expressing personality — whether through bold statements or subtle tones. The key is balancing individuality with timeless design principles to create a space that feels both personal and enduring.
Your home should tell your story. Just like our Belgravia client who loved the bold and colourful design, see more photos here: https://www.susanvanmeter.com/belgravia-townhouse

Interior design goes far beyond decoration.
While decoration focuses on finishes, furniture, and styling, interior design considers layouts, spatial planning, lighting, electrical, and how a space functions as a whole.
In short, designers create the structure and flow—decorators enhance the final look.

Creating a Cohesive Colour Palette
A well-designed home flows effortlessly from one room to the next.
This is achieved through a carefully considered colour palette that connects spaces while allowing each room to maintain its own identity. Balance is key — bold tones supported by neutrals create longevity and elegance.
Cohesion is what defines luxury.

Black and White Done Right
A black and white scheme remains one of the most timeless design choices.
When paired with a grounding colour such as teal, it creates contrast, balance, and visual interest. The key lies in layering materials and finishes to avoid the space feeling flat.
Classic, but never predictable.
