MANIFOLDS

Yesterday we fabricated up some manifolds for the house we are working on. Uponor drops/outlets and copper manifold inlet. When building a manifold you have a few options.

-Size, size up from the inlet to the manifold to the branches or loop it, thus will allow equal pressure on each outlet

-Material Choice, ya you can use pex, uponor, copper or press but I choose copper most times…. Why? Because of the service aspect. If 10 years go by and you have a bad valve on a pressed manifold that whole things is trash but if you sweat it then it’s not serviceable. No matter what valves you use they all seize eventually.

-Valves, lots of different manufactures and lots of different ways to create your manifold based on your valve choice. This time around I’m using copper X cold expansion ball valves which I’ve never used before but usually I do ball valve with a copper X cold expansion adaptor but this way is less joints and a cleaner look IMO

-Mounting, you can mount it a bunch of ways but my go to ceiling plates, rod and split hangers (coated or cushion if you can find em)

This post isn’t about showing off a new toy although I must admit it’s a truly good looking machine.

This post is for the people that are working for someone else that might need a little kick in the but to go self employed. It’s not for everyone, it’s a lot of hard work, realistically you are pretty much owned by your clients for 5 years because when you start you take every call possible to get acquainted with everyone possible. Then around the 5 year mark you get your busniess stuff figured out, realize the things you would do again but more importantly the thing you don’t want to do again.

It’s taken since 2008 for me to make the jump on a machine that I’ve always wanted to own. My childhood dream was to work with Tonka trucks.

This water detector is pretty sweet in features.

What? It communicates with the Flo in order to reduce damage in the case of a water pipe burst or flood.

How?
If the leads from lower section of flood detector are connected by water it sends a signal to the Flo main water shut off to turn water off until you tell it it’s ok to open back up!

Why? To protect your belongings in the case of a flood

When? Probably when you are gone that’s why these smart devices are important…. They lower the damage that would be caused by water!

Talking about being the center of attention.

We just installed the floating shelves that were nice enough to get ready before the holidays and we are just doing a deep clean before we bring all our stuff down.

Floating shelves are not for everyone but we opted to keep a minimalist amount of glassware that will force us the keep everything aligned and clean.

Brittany and myself are so excited for this moment that we have look forward to since the start in March!

How many things can you spot in this picture done wrong?

The small amount of daylight affects many things other then the amount of time you have to see. I find myself almost wanting to hibernate and I didn’t feel like that when I was younger so it must be a “getting old thing”. Leave when it’s dark, get home when it’s dark really makes you think of moving ( at least for me).

How do you deal with the short days of daylight?

On a side note how about the amount of light this little guys gives off 😍
