A finished opening can look very different from one home to the next and that’s exactly the point.
This customer chose an integrated Bcompact gate, designed to work with our Folding Stair - Fixed Top Step configuration for a clean, considered finish at the upper level.
But an integrated gate is only one option.
Depending on your space, you might choose a simple safety gate from your local hardware store, have a gate custom-built to match your balustrade, use glass, timber or metalwork, or create something completely unique to the room.
The Bcompact Fold gets you there. How you finish the space around it is entirely up to you.

Every loft is different. So is the way you finish it.
We often show the Bcompact Stair itself, but this installation is a great example of looking at the complete space.
At the upper level, the homeowner has finished the opening with a balustrade and safety gate, creating a beautifully resolved transition between the Bcompact Stair and the loft above.
The exact requirements and finishing details around an upper opening will depend on the individual project, its location and how the space is being used and can be incorporated into the surrounding design accordingly.
And when access is no longer needed?
The Stair folds away from the doorway and gives the room below back.
