For Blairgowrie II, we embraced the relaxed character of a 1970s coastal home while introducing a refined, contemporary palette. A native timber ceiling flows throughout the new pavilion, creating warmth overhead, while textured timber cabinetry is balanced with soft off-white joinery to keep the space feeling light and timeless. The hero is the striking natural stone, with subtle pink, green and beige tones wrapping the island and splashback to create a centrepiece that’s both practical and sculptural. Hidden beyond, the walk-in pantry provides generous storage and a dedicated coffee station, allowing the main kitchen to remain calm, uncluttered and ready for entertaining.

Throughout the powder room and family bathroom at Blairgowrie II, a restrained material palette creates a sense of calm and continuity. Warm timber joinery, textured wall finishes and soft neutral tones are paired with refined fixtures to deliver spaces that feel both functional and luxurious. Retaining existing plumbing locations where possible helped minimise construction costs, allowing the design investment to focus on timeless materials, bespoke joinery and carefully considered detailing. The result is a collection of bathrooms that feel effortless, enduring and perfectly suited to everyday family life.

Designed for slow mornings, long afternoons and everything in between.
The new living pavilion at Blairgowrie II celebrates the Australian coastal lifestyle with generous open-plan spaces, a continuous timber ceiling and expansive glazing that frames the terrace, pool and surrounding native gardens. A rustic limestone-look porcelain floor unifies the existing home with the new extension, while custom timber joinery introduces warmth, texture and practical storage without competing with the architecture. Every material has been selected to create a relaxed, understated interior that honours the home’s 1970s origins while providing a timeless backdrop for modern family living.

A glazed link forms the transition between the original home and the new pavilion at Blairgowrie II.
Designed as more than a circulation space, this quiet connection becomes a place to pause—framing views across the native gardens while bringing natural light deep into the home.
The existing floor plan has been thoughtfully reconfigured to accommodate three bedrooms, a teenage retreat, a central family bathroom and a separate powder room, with existing plumbing retained where possible to deliver a more efficient and cost-conscious renovation.

Blairgowrie II is the renovation and extension of an existing 1970s single-level home on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula.
Rather than erase the home’s character, the design embraces its strongest architectural qualities. The original flat roof and timber beam ceilings are retained, while a carefully considered rear pavilion extends the home for contemporary family living.
The existing red brick façade will be rendered to create a cohesive material palette, linking old and new through restrained detailing and a timeless coastal aesthetic.

Designed for gathering.
At Blairgowrie I, outdoor spaces are treated as an extension of the home. The generous front setback becomes a second living zone, anchored by a circular concrete seat and central firepit that encourages connection year-round.
Beyond, the home is organised around everyday family life. Living and sleeping wings are separated by a long gallery-like corridor, while the kitchen forms the social centre of the house. A covered rear terrace, plunge pool and dedicated beach wash-down facilities support a lifestyle shaped by the nearby coastline.
Every element was designed to create a home that feels relaxed, practical and deeply connected to place.

Mount Eliza house, a new split-level four-bedroom family home with Hoad Building Co.
The laundry and pantry are finished in the same neutral tones as the kitchen. The laundry features open skirting in a tall cupboard for a robo-vac, with a hanging rail behind overhead cupboards for drying. The galley style pantry has been designed with expansive bench space for small appliances with a sink and zip tap. Open shelving to the ‘blind side’ of the room allows easy access to daily food items.
